Cyber-Savvy Teens is a brief booklet for you on issues related to safe and responsible Internet use.
Please understand, I am a mom and so some of this will sound “mom-like.” When I asked my 15-year-old son and his buddies to read this booklet, their first eye-rolling response was, “We have already figured this out.” Indeed, they already did know much – but not all – of this information. My 13-year-old daughter and her friends did not know as much. I can’t predict where you are on your path to understanding. But you might learn some things that could help you or your friends.
You may know other teens or younger people who are making mistakes online that could put them at risk, are engaged in inappropriate online activities, have been targeted in harmful ways by others, or have posted material that raises concerns that they might cause harm to themselves or others.
PLEASE
Think about how you would feel if you knew something was wrong, but did not help or tell and someone got hurt.
